Oil Search was established in Papua New Guinea in 1929 and is the country’s largest oil producer and private employer. As the Production Engineer, you will provide day-to-day technical support to the Production Superintendent and drive key processes which underpin safe, reliable, optimal production from the reservoir to the production facilities. You will play a crucial coordination role between Subsurface, Facilities, Drilling, Well Integrity and Production Disciplines whilst upholding HSE policies and initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Provide short term production optimisation oversight for the assigned fieldManage the quality control of daily production and annulus pressure dataDevelop short term production forecastsMonitor well performance and provide inputs into the crude lifting and gas export forecastsDevelop scopes of work and programs for well optimisationTroubleshoot and investigate sub-optimal performance and recommend corrective actionsProvide and update a 7-day look ahead for well optimisation activitiesCommunicate the outcomes to key stakeholders and ensures alignment between forecasts and integrated activity plansProvide clear guidance to Production Superintendent and Integrated Asset Planner to support optimisation of production impacting activitiesDeliver technical support, guidance, and training to colleagues including graduates
Experience required:
Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering preferred5 – 10 years’ oil and gas industry experienceDemonstrated experience in optimisation of gas lifted oil production wells, high GOR wells, and gathering systemsStrong track record in crude oil processing and gas production, compression, and export facilitiesProficiency in well performance analysis, optimisation & troubleshooting, production optimisation processes, nodal analysis, and flow assurance management practicesSound understanding of reservoir management principles, including gas injection, well construction, well intervention, and integrity management methodsExcellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement skillsWillingness to collaborate across a range of technical abilities and experience levels in a multicultural settingExperience working in a field based environment, ideally in a developing country
