Oil Search was established in Papua New Guinea in 1929 and is the country’s largest oil producer and private employer. As the Petroleum Engineer (Reservoir Surveillance), you will sustain and optimise company assets by providing pragmatic field development plans, identifying short to medium term production opportunities and monitoring & optimising reservoir, well and field performance.
Responsibilities:
Develop reservoir depletion plans to optimise and enhance oil production and ensure reliable gas delivery to PNG LNG through:Utilising petroleum engineering best practice to analyse reservoir, well, facility and field data to optimise production performance and to identify and evaluate additional opportunitiesIntegrating wellbore performance requirements with drilling and completion design, surface facility architecture and production operationsOptimisation of near wellbore and well performance, gas lift and swing well programmesIdentification and promotion of future well-work programme activitiesPreparation of oil and gas production forecastsEnsure that annual oil and gas production budget forecasts are met by using all necessary reservoir surveillance mechanisms, while ensuring that depletion plans for each field are adhered toDevelop and implement optimal data acquisition strategies for each field to ensure production optimisation, reservoir modelling, corporate and external requirements are metContribute to production engineering issues in exploration and emerging business units as requiredSupervise and mentor less experienced staff in all aspects of petroleum and reservoir engineeringEnsure compliance with OSL’s HSES policies and standards in all activities
Experience required:
Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering7+ years’ upstream oil and gas industry experience with majority spent with owner/operatorAdvanced understanding of production and reservoir engineering, facility operations, well and completion designAdvanced understanding of daily production monitoring and early diagnosis of production problemsAdvanced skills in well test interpretation and design, nodal analysis and production optimisation using PROSPER and GAPAdvanced understanding of artificial lift design and optimisationSound understanding of metering and allocation strategies to enable optimal production surveillanceSound understanding of reservoir simulation using ECLIPSE and MBALWillingness and ability to collaborate and communicate across a range of technical abilities and experience levels in a multicultural setting
